What we collect
- Your e mail address, but only when you provide it, for example to claim an entry, to claim a profile or to open an account.
- Your IP address, recorded when you open a video and click through to the original platform, and when you post a comment. We use it for anti abuse and to count unique visits.
- The text of the comments you post.
- Click counters per video and per outbound link.
- A signed, HTTP only session cookie when you log in.
- Basic technical data (such as the page requested and the time) in our server logs.
Why we collect it
We use this data to run and operate the catalog, to confirm claims and verify ownership, to detect and stop abuse, spam and automated mass adding, to count clicks and show statistics, and to keep you logged in. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
Legal bases
Where we need a legal basis under the UK GDPR, we rely on:
- Contract, to deliver the service you ask for, such as a confirmed claim or an account.
- Legitimate interests, to prevent abuse, keep the service secure and produce aggregate statistics.
- Consent, where you choose to give it, for example for a cookie that is not strictly necessary.
You can withdraw consent at any time.
How long we keep it
- Claim tokens are valid for 24 hours and are removed after they expire.
- Click records are kept for aggregate statistics and are not tied to a long term profile.
- Comments stay published until you or we remove them.
- An account and its e mail address are kept until you ask us to delete them.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the providers that make the service work: our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database, and our SMTP provider, which delivers the e mail we send you, such as claim links and notifications. We do not sell personal data and we do not pass it to advertisers. Thumbnails are cached on our own servers, so no data reaches an external platform until you click through to it yourself.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, which are listed in our Cookie Policy. We use only cookies that are necessary for the service to work and we do not use advertising or cross site tracking cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted and to receive it in a portable format. You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to video@taplic.com and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom.
Children
Taplic Video is not intended for people under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service develops. The current version is always on this page with its date. If a change is significant we will make it clear on the site.
